It’s Sunday following the 10th week of Tech Elevator’s 14-week coding bootcamp.

This week we learned about JavaScript with a commonly used library called Jquery and a styling library called Bootstrap. We also intensified our career search in preparation for upcoming ‘matchmaking’ events. I described matchmaking in Week 3. It’s basically the job interview version of speed dating. In the next two weeks, I’ll have ten 30-minute interviews through matchmaking.

It’s Sunday following my 11th week at Tech Elevator’s 14-week coding bootcamp.

The lesson plans slowed down this week as students’ job-searches intensify. On Wednesday Tech Elevator hosted the first of two “Employer Matchmaking” sessions. In addition to my job search and school work, I’ve started putting a lot of time into my ‘passion project’ – read Week 9 to learn more.

It’s Sunday following the 13th week at Tech Elevator’s Spring 2017 coding bootcamp. This week we kicked off our final two-week capstone project and continued to search for jobs. I also put a lot of time into my passion project.

Our final capstone project requires groups of three to four students to create a full-stack web application. Last week students were given a list of project ideas and chose their top three favorite ones. I chose to work on an application which allows people visiting Columbus, Ohio to organize their agenda; the site is called “Tour Columbus.” I was particularly interested in this idea because I wanted to learn about the Google Maps APIs.

It’s Monday two weeks after my graduation from Tech Elevator’s 14-week coding bootcamp.

What can I say? The past four months have been life changing. I’ve abandoned a sales career to pursue my passion, learned new skills, met a ton of people, started a blog, launched a website, and learned a ton of lessons along the way. I’ll look back on this as one of the most formative times in my career, and I can’t wait for what comes next.

This will be a quick post to explain what I’ll be doing after graduation from Tech Elevator.

As of today, I’ve joined the Scotts Company as a full-stack web and mobile application developer. If you haven’t heard of Scotts, it’s the world’s leading lawn care company, behind brands like Miracle-Gro fertilizer and Roundup weed killer.

Just under a year ago, I graduated from Tech Elevator’s coding bootcamp. Three weeks ago I released my first enterprise mobile application.

For 3 years after college, I worked in sales. First I sold software to lawyers over the phone, then I moved to Columbus, Ohio to sell supplies and equipment to dentists. I didn’t hate my sales jobs, but I never felt like I truly cared enough about what I did.
